Clinical Interests
Acute and chronic medical conditions in children from birth to 18 years. Sarah has particular interests in continence and toileting problems, as well as asthma and eczema. She also has extensive experience assisting children with developmental delay, growth concerns, autism and ADHD.
Background and experience
Dr Sarah McNab is an experienced General Paediatrician, having worked in paediatrics since 2003. She studied medicine at Monash University in Melbourne and is currently completing a PhD through the University of Melbourne.
As well as working at Melbourne Paediatric Specialists, Sarah is a consultant paediatrician in the Department of General Medicine at the Royal Children’s Hospital and is the Clinical Lead of the Short Stay Unit. She is also a mum to two young boys.
Practice Philosophies
Sarah focuses on family-centred care. She has strong working relationships with allied health professionals, including psychologists, speech therapists and physiotherapists. She will also, where relevant, liaise with educators involved with patients and their families.
Sarah has a strong research interest, and is currently completing a PhD examining intravenous fluid management for hospitalised children. Her research has recently been accepted for publication in The Lancet.
Sarah has presented at numerous conferences, including the Pediatric Academic Societies conference in Vancouver, the International Conference in Emergency Medicine in Hong Kong and the International Congress of Paediatrics.
She has previously worked as a paediatric tutor at the University of Melbourne and regularly teaches on Advanced Paediatric Life Support courses across Australia.
