CLINICAL INTERESTS
Jeff Kao is a Paediatric Endocrinologist who specialises in the care of children and adolescents with hormone-related diseases and diabetes. He has special interests in paediatric obesity, thyroid dysfunction, adrenal, growth and pubertal disorders.
BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
Jeff trained in Paediatric Endocrinology at Monash Children’s Hospital in 2012 and at the Royal Children’s Hospital from 2013 to 2016. He qualified as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Paediatric Endocrinology in 2015. He also completed a clinical research fellowship at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, Scotland focusing on the endocrine aspects of children with chronic diseases and differences in sexual differentiation, before undertaking an 18-month post-fellowship training at the British Columbia’s Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada.
Jeff has experience in clinical and basic science research, as well as educating junior medical staff and medical students. He is a graduate of the University of Melbourne’s Doctor of Medical Sciences degree.
Jeff has academic interests in the links between childhood obesity and later disease, endocrine aspects of patients with chronic diseases and quality of care in youth type 1 diabetes mellitus and continues to be actively involved with clinical research.
